What a day!

I did it! Today was one of my all time favorite days. The race was so much fun, so supportive, and filled with enthusiastic fans. I beat my goal time by two minutes and felt strong all the way. The swim was way more of a people obstacle course than I imagined but was still quite smooth, the bike was uphill for about the first 3 miles but then the sweet payoff was about 9 miles of rolly up and down (mostly down!). Then the run was fun because people were cheering the whole way. I didn't stop smiling the whole time.

Sam and Reed were there at every transition yelling for me. In the photos you can see my "wave" of swimmers in green caps, all the women in my age group. We were the 14th wave out of 21 so there was a lot of waiting to get started. I loved all the ceremony that Danskin does. They actually played "Eye of the Tiger" on the beach before the swim started, and if that's not embarrasing, how about the fact that it made me get teary with excitement? They also put a medal around your neck as soon as you cross the finish line.

It was pretty amazing to see the cancer survivors and older women racing. I had a total blast and will definitely be back next year. Who's coming with me? Huge thanks to Sam for being so excited for me and cheering so loudly at every turn. (These photos are way out of order and I can't for the life of me straighten them out, so you'll figure it out.) Reed's t-shirt says "My Mom Tri's." I couldn't resist.
