merry merry.

 We had our friends over for gingerbread house making on Sunday, so Saturday night I set to make seven gingerbread houses out of graham crackers.  In the past, it has been a real pain to make these because the graham crackers break a lot, especially when you have to make two diagonal cuts with a serrated knife.  This time, everything went my way, and with the frosting in a pastry bag, I whipped out 7 houses in 30 minutes.  We were ready to let our designers go to work.

I've done this every year since Skyler was 2 (and McKayla has been here for every one), and it never gets old to me to watch the kids simultaneously overload on sugar and build their houses.  They all have their own approach.  Some are fast and furious, others are slow and meticulous.  Still others (Reed) put only one m&m on the house and then ate the rest of the candy by the handful.  (can you find Reed's minimalist design?)

And just for the novelty of it all, here I am with my friends in one of the only photos of us without bib numbers or running clothes.  {But there are more bib numbers in our future!  Oh yes!}

Tomorrow is my last day teaching for ten days!  I think the stressful parts of Christmas are over and I only have some finishing touches to do before  I can just sit back and enjoy (ha).

I love how you are in descending order of height in the photo and out of all the people you invited, the ones that came are all women you run with. How lucky to have people you (and I) cherish across so many facets of life...
