long hair and Boston fever.

I forgot to post this favorite photo from the canoe race. We're doing a little hair experiment on Reed's head.  I'm liking it so far, but we'll see what happens.

On a totally unrelated note, I am a little obsessed with the Boston Marathon (happening today) and have been reading articles about it and feeling really excited for a few runners I know who are running it, and cheering for Kara Goucher because she is so freaking awesome.

I will never qualify for Boston, but am thinking that in the next few years I'm going to try to get in to the race through a charity like Dana Farber or Team in Training.  It would be a ton of work, but it feels like a race that I need to run.  I can feel the electricity of the race buzz all the way up in Maine.  I'm going to run 5 miles and pretend I'm there.

I hear you on the excitement from Boston. My dad ran it 20+ times before he died and watched it every year starting when I was 11 months old. There is nothing quite like the Boston Marathon the energy is postively electric!

I also am feeling the excitement of boston - south of boston!

I would love to run the race one day - with Dana Farber or Team in Training as well.

Why write (or think!) "never"? Consider how much you've accomplished in just a few years of running. It's totally awesome!

But if you did train with Dana Farber or another group, you'd have an excellent fan-base of support--financial and otherwise!

Boston is a marathoner's mecca; you should aspire to run it. As T.S.Eliot said,"For us, there is only the trying. The rest is not our business."

I've been obsessed with the race as well. I've been watching it online. Hopefully my husband will qualify at Sugarloaf and we'll be down there cheering him on next year. Then, maybe, I'll try to qualify. If I don't qualify, I'll probably through a charity as well!

This photo is like looking into the future of Mr. Reed Gabriel Manhart. Oh, my. He looks so grown up and handsome and adorable all at once. Honestly, he looks like the best of his mom and his dad and I just want to same DAMN you two...nice job.
