Clean Food Challenge #2.

Remember in December when I did the Clean Food Challenge, and several friends and readers joined me?

A combination of forces have collided to tell me that it's time to do it again.  I've talked to some other people who are doing a cleanse right now or thinking about it; I feel like twice a year is a good goal and it's been 6 months from the last one; I have been eating a lot of sweets especially ice cream;  I want to cut the crap and be in top shape for my summer races; I have been thinking about how fantastic I felt during this past winter's CFC, and having the farm share again and all of these fresh veggies in the farmer's markets has put me in the mood.

And therefore, I will do the CFC for the celebration of my first week of summer.  The dates will be Tuesday June 21-Monday June 27.  7 days.

Here are the "rules" of the CFC (remember that I made these up but was guided and inspired by other cleanses).

-No Dairy
-No Sugar
-No Alcohol
-No Gluten
-No Processed anything
-I choose to have no meat, but others had organic lean proteins.

I will eat only:  vegetables, fruit, whole grains, nuts, fresh-pressed juices, green smoothies, and a gallon of water per day.   I will drink one cup of coffee per day.  You may call this cheating.  I call it necessary.

Have you been interested in doing a cleanse, but never been brave enough to try?
Would you have better luck on a cleanse if you had friends doing it with you?
Whether you've done it before or whether you are a cleanse virgin, would you like to join me?

I will post regularly on the blog as I get ready for and then go about the cleanse.  I will compile a list of links (like I did last time) of other bloggers who are doing the cleanse so you can read other people's recipes and thoughts about the cleanse.  If you don't have a blog, we can keep in touch via comments or emails.   You have about 10 days to think about it.

If you are thinking about it, you may want to read these two posts:
getting ready for the CFC
shopping for the CFC
Remember, doing this cleanse made me feel so fantastic.  I was an (even more than usual!) energetic, happy, clean-sweating mama.  Think about joining me and let me know.

Here is a photo that has nothing to do with clean eating.  Just my cute babies.

Yes!!! I've been thinking about doing another cleanse and really feeling like I NEED one (been falling into a lot of bad old habits surrounding the late nights working on Sparrow). I will be joining you on your dates, was thinking about the solstice myself, and will write about my plan too. Hurray!!!!

i wanted to do this when you did this late last year, but couldn't due to lack of funds (i did a terrible, abbreviated cleanse the week after). i am most definitely in for this go-round.

Okay, Susan here, I'm in again for round 2! To anyone thinking of doing it -- it's actual more doable than it seems. And I'm sure all could use a little firming before swimsuits.

It might be harder for me in the summer when I'm not teaching and Giffords (local ice cream) and G&Ts are calling my name, but I think the group will help keep me on track.

I'll have to sit this one out! Summer Writing Program at the JACK KEROUAC SCHOOL OF DISEMBODIED POETICS is not the place to give up booze or caffeine. Not in our lineage :)

I'm in.

I'm in - almost 3 months post baby & I'm stuck 15 lbs up. Hope it's ok to do the selfish "hope it helps me lose some weight" cleanse. I'll post about it too. Can't wait!

I'm a regular reader but I have only commented once. I'm definitely in! I have been feeling a bit sluggish and "toxic" lately and welcome the opportunity to reset. I think it will help me as I embark on training for my second half marathon.

Sign me up! I finally have a kitchen and money and am not bogged down with homework that cuts in on any cooking time! SO EXCITED!

This is Emily Smith! My husband and I are in. He's super excited, and I'm reluctantly giving up dessert. We're moving to Atlanta, Georgia at the end of June, so we want to break some bad habits and feel fresh for the move.

Okay - I think Jill has convinced me to do your CFC. I'm nervous about this. Really. I am. I drink 4 cups a coffee a day. I know you drink 1 cup/day. Do you drink it black? Jeez, I don't know if I can cut Starbucks out for a week. I guess I'll save $$$. :)

Jen... join us! I regularly drink 2-3 cups a day but for CFC I'll drink one in the morning. I find you won't need it in the afternoon b/c the food is so energizing. Seriously. You have to try it. I experimented with almond milk and agave in coffee... it's not very good, but I have a hard time with black coffee. I'll solicit some ideas for what to add to coffee.

I think I'm going to watch and cheer everyone on. I'm already off sugar but am nervous to do a full cleanse while breastfeeding. Also, I'm allergic to tree nuts and lots of fruits/veggies, so I need to take some time with menu planning. I'm envious of how good you'll all be feeling!

I was hesitant, but then you said that coffee was allowed for survival so now I'm in. This sounds way better than the lettuce juice cleanse I did a couple of years back. I coerced a friend into doing it with me; I don't think she's forgiven me yet. I'll blog about it. It will keep me from falling off the wagon.

This is Heather from work.

I was thinking of you and the CFC during that last month of school when every day brought forth a new bounty of doughnuts and coffee. Due to my entire lack of self control, I can no longer button my pants. :) I'm joining this party late (end-of-year camping weekend = bacon and the only event that merits sugar cereal for Colby!), but am addressing the CFC/lack of funds issue. I'll let you know what I find! I bellied up to my bowl of old fashioned oatmeal, blueberries, and banana slices this morning. Pennies!
