After a seemingly endless wait, it's summer in Maine again. Memorial Day was so lovely that we were beckoned to our favorite little swimming spot, packed a picnic, and into the water we went. The day had all of my favorite ingredients.
Sassy sunglasses. Windows down. Wind in hair. Sunshine.
Peanut butter sandwiches in the dirt.
Sun block. Bug dope. Goggles.
Jackson and Sam in the water.
Green. Muscles. And on the drive home, my very favorite, kids who smell like fresh water and sunshine.
It's a freaking miracle to me every year that we survive the winter and go from this:
"Love yourself, for who and what you are; protect your dream and develop your talent to the fullest extent. Don't lose sight of your goals. No matter what the obstacles are, don't let anything deter you from your best effort. Don't allow anyone to tell you what you can and cannot do. Be tough, be stubborn, love yourself, and find friends who believe in you." --Joan Benoit Samuelson
