Last night, I found an email in my inbox that made me jump out of my chair and dance around the kitchen which made Jackson start barking and the kids run in to see what happened. Skyler yelled: "WHAT WHAT WHAT?" over and over, and Reed just started dancing with me.
Let's back up.
A few weeks ago, my friend Brooke sent me an email.
The memo line was: "Emilie! Do it." and the email just had a link. I clicked it.
Las Olas Surf Safaris for Women, a Surfing camp in Mexico, was running its annual scholarship contest. Write an essay in 200 words or less about why Las Olas is calling you, and you could win a week at Las Olas staying in their beach-front villa, learning to surf, taking yoga, drinking margaritas and eating organic food.
I obsessed about it all day, wrote my essay (200 word limit was really hard) about why a women's surf safari in Mexico was calling my name (duh!), and sent it in. Last night I got an email from the director of Las Olas telling me that I was chosen as a top ten finalist in the contest. From here, Las Olas will post the top 10 essays on their website (on Monday) and whichever woman gets the most votes goes to Las Olas for a week.
Needless to say, I will let you know when the voting begins and I hope that you would all help give me a shot at going surfing in Mexico for a week.
I know I only have a 1 in 10 shot at this point, but it was very fun to lie in bed last night dreaming about the sun and the surf. VERY fun. Stay tuned!
