fresh water and family.

For my mom's birthday this year (she's kind of shy about it, but I'll give you a hint, it starts with a 7 and ends with a 5), we rented a house on Moosehead Lake (biggest lake in Maine).  My sister and my nephews are here, my brother comes tonight, the water is clean and cool.  It's so pretty.  All the other usual great things that come with a week in a lake house with my family:  great food, strong coffee in mismatched campy coffee mugs, towels and bathing suits draped over the deck railings, happy hour on the porch, non-stop conversation, camp fires and s'mores.

I've spent a lot of time looking at Mt. Kineo.

And here is what the kids have been doing:

all hail Mt. Kineo

I did my first 1.2 mile swim (that's the distance of the swim in the triathlon in 3 weeks) in the lake yesterday.  Liesel and Grant kayaked next to me.  It felt long, but was totally doable.

Today:  40 miles on the bike.

Thank you, all of you, for your kind comments about my last post.  This week couldn't have come at a better time.

Moosehead is such a great place. If you find the right spot on it it can be very quiet and relaxing. Looks like the kids had a fun time too!
