San Francisco, last day.

I am on my way home tonight on a red eye and tomorrow I get my kiddos back.  I had another beautiful day and I'm packing up the California sunshine in my pocket to take home.

Unfortunately, I didn't pack any of these amazing breads.  No burritos either, though I did consider it.

This morning I walked the other direction from Chris' house and went up past my old flat to Buena Vista Park, another old favorite of mine, another place where I missed my dog Charlie.

Buena Vista park goes up, up, up through the eucalyptus trees.
And at the top, ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge.  I sat up there for a while with my coffee.  Oh yes.

Next Chris and I hiked along this trail for some pretty amazing views of the bridge.
And we did some yoga while standing on a post, obviously.

Next stop, lunch with California and Maryland relatives all in the city for Thanksgiving.  Guess which two are my mom's sisters.  We missed you, mom, and all cousins!

The rest of the day was spent wandering in and out of shops in Hayes Valley and talking myself out of some of the things I thought I had to have.  So many damn cute and cool things in that city.  I just wanted to bring it all home.  There was one particular dress I reluctantly said goodbye to when the price was too high.  I'm still not happy about that.

One final amazing dinner at an Italian place called Uva included an arugula and zucchini salad with Meyer lemon vinaigrette and pine nuts and Parmesan, and and this ridiculous salad with faro (like bulgar, but chewier) and pomegranate seeds and burrato cheese and persimmons all drizzled in honey, and the meal ended with vanilla bean gelato with olive oil and sea salt.

Oh my god.

In other words, it was a perfect trip from start to end.  Thank you universe, for making a place like San Francisco exist on this earth, and thank you Chris for being the perfect host.

I'm hopping on a plane right this second.  Gotta run.  xo
